Visiting The Museum
The museum is situated at 26 South Quay in Great Yarmouth. Visits usually take between one to two hours. There is full wheeled access to the galleries, shop, toilets and Maritime Courtyard. We also have a car park directly adjacent to the museum.
Directions from Norwich A47:
Cross straight over at the roundabout from the A47. Stay in the right-hand lane and turn right at the next roundabout (signposted Historic South Quay). The road bears left. Keep to the right. In front of you is the Haven Bridge on your right and the Town Hall to your left. Continue through the traffic lights with the Town Hall still on your left. Continue straight and you will see signs to the Library on your left. The museum is just after this on the left. We have car parking adjacent to the building and there is also free car parking on the quayside over the road. Directions from A12/A143:
Follow the signs to the town centre and seafront. When you reach the Haven Bridge, turn right. Continue straight and through the traffic lights and you will see signs to the Library on your left. Trains run regularly from Norwich and Lowestoft. On exiting the train station, cross over the iron bridge onto North Quay. Cross over the traffic lights and continue walking with the river on your right and past the town hall on your left. The museum is situated just past the library on South Quay. Buses:
The hop-on hop-off red City Sight-seeing Bus stops directly outside the museum during the summer season. It also calls at the train and bus stations, the town centre and the seafront. It is an open-topped tour bus with a commentary highlighting Yarmouth's history and sights. The ticket is valid for 24 hours and can be bought at any stop or at the Tourist Information Centre on Marine Parade.
